Dulcolax Uses
Purpose
- part of a bowel cleansing regimen in preparing patients for surgery
- preparing the colon for x-ray or endoscopic examination
Warnings
Do not use
- unless directed by a doctor
- tablets, if you cannot swallow without chewing
When using this product
- suppository is for rectal use only
- do not take tablets within 1 hour after taking an antacid or milk
- do not chew or crush tablet(s)
- it may cause stomach discomfort, faintness, rectal burning or cramps
Stop use and ask a doctor if
- you have rectal bleeding or no bowel movement after using this product.
These could be signs of a serious condition. - you need to use a laxative for more than 1 week
If pregnant or breast-feeding , ask a health professional before use.
Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
Directions
- read the entire label and directions at least 24 hours in advance of examination
- follow each step and complete all instructions or the entire x-ray or the endoscopic examination may have to be repeated
