REMICADE



Remicade is a rather new medicine that has a strong antiphlogistic effect and the ability to slow down the immune system. In pharmaceutics Remicade belongs to the group of so-called biological drugs and is used in the treatment of such diseases as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, severe psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis and so on.

Remicade produced in the form of a lyophilized powder for solution, followed by intravenous introduction.

The main indications for Remicade use is rheumatoid arthritis (also in cases of the ineffectiveness of the earlier therapy). Crohn's disease (severe course, including the formation of fistulas, with the ineffectiveness of standard therapy, including corticosteroids and or immunosuppressants).

During the treatment the following rules should be followed.

The status of the internal organs and skin condition (the doctor will have to tell you exactly when and what tests you need to pass) must be tested regularly. If these tests show significant deviations from the standard indices doctor can change the treatment (reduce dose, add additional medications) or cancel it.

About once every six months to consult a dermatologist (this is especially important if you are taking infliximab to cure psoriasis) can be noted that the first signs of skin cancer.
